Auf Wiedersehen, Deutschland!

What a fantastic week it's been!

We are at the Cologne Bonn airport and scheduled to arrive at Gatwick at 5pm (local time). Our flight number is EZY5378.

Die Bahn streikt!

Unfortunately the German train drivers announced another strike today, so our train to Königswinter (where 'Drachenfels' is situated) had to be cancelled. However, Plan B was quickly put in place and we are in Cologne at the moment. We enjoyed a lovely visit to a German bakery and are about to go up the LVR-tower, a panorama view point. More pictures are soon to follow.

Hallo Bonn!

Today we went to Bonn: after a smooth bus journey, we saw the town hall and took a lovely group picture. Students then had some free time to buy souvenirs or explore the town centre. Turned out we all found our way to the Haribo shop which was a quite popular place among the students. :)

Afterwards, we had a guided tour through a museum ("Haus der Geschichte") which enabled us to find out more about the German history. Lots of interesting questions were asked and students were keen to develop their knowledge of the German history.

Tomorrow is our last day in Germany and we will hopefully enjoy an excellent view from the hill called "Drachenfels" before making our way to the Cologne Bonn airport.

If time allows, there will be another (last) blog entry tomorrow. We are scheduled to arrive at Gatwick airport at 5pm (local time) - South terminal.

Alles Gute zum Geburtstag, Dan!

The day started with some birthday celebrations as it is Dan's birthday today. Alles Gute zum Geburtstag, Dan! To celebrate the birthday, we all enjoyed some lovely homemade cakes and even sang a birthday song in German.

We then made our way to an indoor climbing centre which was only about 15 minutes away from school. Students did not only impress with their excellent climbing skills, but it was even more pleasing to see everyone getting involved. All students worked brilliantly as a team and it was fantastic to see everyone supporting each other.

Students then joined their partners to go to lessons and afterwards enjoy the sunshine outside.

Zwei Farben, eine Liebe ... ein Besuch in Köln!

Today we visited the Rhein Energie Stadium, home of the local football team 1.FC Köln. The excellent tourguide showed us all around the stadium, including a museum, the VIP lounges and the changing rooms. As we got to sit in the seat on the coaching bench and check out the players' changing rooms, we were able to feel a bit like the coaches/players of the (what Miss Sichla would say) best football club in Germany. :)

After an excellent tour, we took the tram to go to the Cologne cathedral. Students and staff enjoyed an ice-cream in a typical "Eiscafé". Students, then, had some free time to explore the city centre and buy some souvenirs.

What a lovely (and yet again sunny) morning/afternoon it was!

Wir freuen uns morgen auf den Ausflug in die Kletterhalle!
